TROTTING Canterbury Park Profit Of $4748
A profit of $4748 is shown in the accounts to be presented at the annual meeting of the Canterbury Park Trotting Club next Wednesday. Last year the club showed a profit of $5742.
The club this season ran four meetings, compared with five during the previous 12 months, says the report of the president (Mr E. F. Mercer).
I The daily average combined _ on and off course turnover ’ amounted to $397,209, com- ’ pared with $388,700 during , the previous season. > Stakes were greatly increased during the season the daily average rising by more than $3OOO to a record average for the club of $18,275. Mention is made in the rereport to the deaths of a number of members, including Mr H. T. Fuller, who was a past-president of the club, and Mr F. W. Jarman, who at the time of his death was an active member of the committee. Stakes distributed during the .season . amounted to $73,100 for four days, against $75,900 for five days the previous year. The club paid $28,824 as its contribution to Addington Raceway, Ltd, 1 against $28,650. Tolalisator : expenses were $14,289, against; $16,377, while race meeting ; expenses were $16,276, against! $18,504. Totalisator receipts amoun- ; ted to $111,071, against ’ $114,060, and formed the bulk 1 of the club’s income. Notnin- ’ ation and acceptance fees 1 amounted to $9631, against ] $10,395, while gates receipts 1 amounted to $13,351, against 1
$15,581, members’ subscriptions to $8454, against $B4OB, and interest to $6934, against $7139. The club has cash and Investments of more than $131,500, according to the balance sheet.
