All Sections Quieter On Australian Markets

Trading was dull in all sections on Australian stock exchanges yesterday. In mining shares most moves were marginal. Industrials were thinly traded and no clear trend emerged. There was some activity after the North Kalgurli bid for Loloma. Loloma added a marginal 5c though North Kai gurli dropped 32c. However the original bidder, Mining Finance, benefited to the extent of a 20c rise to 240 c. Antimony stocks improved on yesterdays gains. Metramar was particularly strong, adding 30c to 330 c. Mallina firmed 13c and Nuttall recovered early losses to finish unchanged at 80c. Among the oils the over-all tone was lower. Beach was the main casualty, shedding 20c. B.H.P. fell 30c to 1350 c and Theiss was 10c lower through C.S.R. improved by the same amount. N.Z. Forest, Humes and British Tobacco suffered small losses.
