Films For Children

Sir,—We, the city girls’ presidents of the Young Christian Workers are concerned at the lack of suitable films for the general public. On several occasions we have noticed that there have been only one or two films for the “general" category, while most of the others have been Rl6 or RlB. At one stage at the beginning of this month there was not one film suitable for children, as the ratings ranged only from Y upwards. Today, mid-term break for many schoolchildren, there are two G certificates in the city (one purely on pop groups), and two at suburban theatres which schoolchildren could legally attend. We do not feel that this is sufficient for such a large section of our community and request that the managers of the theatres look into this matter.— Yours, etc., JUDY CARROLL. July 13, 1970.
