(N.Z. Press Association) ■ WELLINGTON, July 7. "For the first time this year there had been a reduction in the monthly number of fatal road accidents,” the Director of Road Transport (Mr B. C. Campbell) said in a statement today. “Thirty-nine road users were killed last month, compared with 44 in the corresponding period last year.” Road fatalities for the first half of the year numbered 363. At this time last year the total was 305. Fatal accidents where only single vehicles were involved have Increased by 31 per cent this year. Two-thirds of the fatalities for June occurred during darkness, with 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. being the peak hour, Mr Campbell said.
