Appeal Run By Jaycees

The word “Peru” will figure prominently in an appeal being launched tomorrow by the combined Christchurch Jaycee chapters in aid of victims of the recent earthquake in Peru. A large hardboard sheet with the letters “Peru” inscribed on it will be placed outside the Christchurch Cathedral tomorrow from 11.30 a.m. to 2.30 p;m. and a silver coin collection will be! developed on the letters,! said the Jaycees’ liaison officer for the appeal, Mr A. R. McLachlan, yesterday. The appeal will be continued at Hay’s corner, Upper Riccarton, on Thursday evening; Northlands shopping centre on Friday evening; New Brighton on Saturday; outside Hay’s in Sydenham on Friday, July 10; and possibly at Hornby and Bishopdale, said Mr McLachlan.
