Four Sires Arrive

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. The American-bred Taipan was among four thoroughbred sires unloaded from the Devon In Auckland yesterday. Taipan, which has been syndicated at a cost of $160,000, will stand at Mr and Mrs R. C. Manning's Tudor Park Stud, Howick. Taipan is by Bold Ruler out of the Star Kingdom mare, Ritmar, a member of the Eulogy family. During his racing career he won eight races, was eight times second and thrice third His stake earnings totalled $68,803. The other three sires are Five Arrows. Palm Beach, and Creosote. Five Arrows is bound for A. E. Preston’s .West Derby Stud, Levin. He won three races and was placed in another three of his eight starts in England He is by Exbury, unbeaten in Europe during the 1963 season, out of Jane, a winner at two years. Palm Beach, which will stand at Mr S. Brosnans Oakland Stud, Matamata, is a halfbrother to the successful young sire. Crest of the Wave, whose stock include the top three-year-olds, Far Time and Astrella. He is by Pall Mall, a son of Palestine, the sire of Pakistan. Palm Beach's Dam, Mulberry Harbour, won the Cheshire Oaks. Creosote, a son of Crepello, is In the care of the Kempton Park studmaster, Mr D. MacKenzie. nf Putaruru. The winner of five races, he is to stand in the South Island.
