Five Hookworm Cases

Five cases of hookworm, one case of malaria, and one case of infective hepatitis were reported in the Christchurch Health District last week. The hookworm cases were returned servicemen in their twenties who are being treated by the medical officer at Burnham. The malaria sufferer was a 25-year-old Volunteer Service Abroad man who returned from the Solomon Islands three weeks ago and neglected to take his malaria tablets for the required period of one month after returning, said the deputy medical officer of health (Dr D. A. Andrews), yesterday. The hepatitis patient is a child in Paparua County.
