Maori Culture Competitions

The Minister of Maori Affairs (Mr Maclntyre) will open the evening session of the annual Waitaha (Canterbury) Maori Cultural Competitions at the Ngaio Marsh Theatre, Ham, this Saturday. Although last year’s winning group, Kia Kotahi, will not compete, it will give an exhibition after the competitions, said the secretary of the Waitaha Council (Mr T. Ryan) yesterday.

Ten clubs will contest the junior and senior sections in the evening, while the afternoon session, to be opened by the member for Southern Maori (Mrs W. TirikateneSullivan) will be contested by five school-children’s groups.
