An Anti-Apartheid Movement conference in Birmingham last night called on the [ new Conservative Government Ito retain Britain's ban on the [sale of arms to South Africa. I The 300 delegates, from al [parts of Britain, includet (students, car workers, dock ers and housewives. They expressed concern [that Mr Heath's Administration was reported to have [planned to drop the embargo [imposed by the Labour Government after a United Na[tions resolution. I A resolution urging the [Government to honour its international obligations said: j“We believe that the breaking of the arms embargo by [Britain will help to entrench [white minority rule in Southern Africa, and will threaten [the independence of the rest iof Africa.”
