Marlborough Table Tennis Results

Canterbury's J. Armstrong was fully extended in his last three matches before winning the men's singles at the Marlborough open table tennis ■ championships held In Blenheim on Saturday. In the quarter-finals. Armstrong beat another Canterbury representative. G. R. Saunders, in five games and was again taken to five games by R. V. Jackson in the semi-finals. In the final, Armstrong met M. R. Spinks, who had just beaten V. N. Brightwell in the semifinals. Although trailing twb games to one, Armstrong played consistently to win both |the fourth and fifth games, 21-19. The women’s singles was won by Mrs T. May. who beat Miss B. Taylor (Canterbury) in straight games. Miss Taylor scored a surprisingly easy win over Miss A. Eden (Nelson) in the semi-finals. 21-9, 21-19, 21-19. Results: Men's Singles.— Quarter-finals: J.
