Skyhawk Flights Weather permitting, the Royal New Zealand Air Force Skyhawk flights over the South Island today will be: Christchurch 10.40 a.m., Oamaru 2.50 p.m., Timaru 3 p.m., Ashburton 3.10 p.m., Hokitika 3.30 p.m., Greymouth 3.40 p.m, and Westport 3.55 p.m. P.M. Congratulated By last night the Prime Minister (Sir Keith Holyoake) had received about 300 telegrams and cables congratulating him on his knighthood. The Prime Minister and Lady Holyoake intend to reply to each message.—(P.A.) Pigeon Problem Pigeon mite infestation of a large Christchurch hotel re ported to the Christchurch City Council recently inter ested the Wallaceville Animal Research Centre of the Department of Agriculture. It said records of this sort of infestation were rare and it would welcome any additional information and specimens of both mites and pigeons. Pool Fund To June 12, $376.50 had been received from parents for the fund to install a heating system in the swimming baths at the Avonside Girls’ High School, Mr J. W. Jameson, told the monthly meeting of the school’s board of governors yesterday. Thd target for the appeal this year is $4OOO. Proceeds from an auction, Maori hangi and fair to be held on October 31 will also be put towards the fund. False Appeal Red Cross appeal envelopes have been distributed recently in the Addington area without authority, the secretarymanager of the North Canterbury centre of the Red Cross (Mr R. J. Lipscombe) said yesterday. He said the envelopes had been left at homes in. Dickens Street, Grove Road, and Poulsen Street, and asked that any person attempting to collect them be reported. ♦ Deliveries Continue Meals-on-wheels deliveries by the North Canterbury Red Cross centre have not been affected by the petrol-tanker drivers’ stoppage. The centre’s secretary-manager (Mr R. J. Lipscombe) said yesterday that the meals were carried by voluntary drivers, and none had cancelled their deliveries. $3OOO Grant A $3OOO grant to cover the cost of converting a house in Woodham Road into a nursery training school for Avonside Girls’ High School has been approved by the Education Department, the board of governors was told yesterday in a letter from the department. The nursery school is being shifted from its present site in Avonside Drive as the building is soon to be demolished. It provides students with - training in practical homecraft as part of their mothercraft course.
