Mutiny In Jordan?
(N.Z P .4 -Reuter—Copyright) BEIRUT, June 14. Government and commando leaders tried to restore calm to Jordan today amid rumours of an attempted mutiny by a tank squadron opposed to the cease-fire agreement with Palestinian guerrilla forces.
The mutiny reports began circulating in Middle East capitals last night after an abortive ambush attempt earlier in the day on the Jordanian Chief of Staff, MajorGeneral Mashour Haditha, an officer respected and trusted by the commandos. He played a key role in negotiating cease-fires both after last week’s three-day long battle between commandos and troops in Amman and also in the previous Govern ment-guerrilla crisis last February
