Mairehau U.S. Wins Speaking

Mairehau High School won the annual Murray Reid public speaking contest held in the Masonic Hall, Papanui. The contest, sponsored by the Papanui Rotary Club, is open to secondary schools in its district. Other schools participating this year were St Andrew’s College, St Bede’s College, Cottesmore College. Papanui High School, and Burnside High School. The subject was that “When all men think alike, no-one thinks very much.” The judges were Messrs P. C. Blank and G. S. Brockett. The contest is named after the Papanui Rotary Club's charter president, the late Lieutenant-Colonel H. M. Reid.
