N.Z.B.C. Coverage Of World Cup
i Sir, —As one who over the j years has smarted with a sense of humiliation at the precedence given by the N.Z.B.C. World News and p'News About Britain,” I was 5 heartened to read the reply) by the public relations officer | of the N.Z.8.C., Mr L. Boyes, ho your correspondent, G. R. I Garters. Soccer gets an exi tremely generous coverage jfrom news media throughout this country. As to the claim of New Zealand "literally begging British people to make i their homes out here" this) would appear to be an illit-l sion gained from associating with, and listening to. Eng-i |llsh expatriates and a rapidly decreasing strata of Anglophiles in this country. Regardless of what sport each New Zealander may follow the general response of New Zea landers to such statements, and to those who utter them, requires no elucidation other than, perhaps, to those who are ignorant of some of our . more pointed, national expressions.—Yours, etc.. TRIPLE STAR. I June 13, 1970.
