Canterbury Too Strong In Badminton
The Canterbury Division 111 badminton team proved too strong for South Canterbury, winning 15-1, in a representative match at Timaru on Saturday. The Canterbury players were well ahead in both singles and doubles matches. The lop men’s doubles match was the Only one taken by their opponents. Here, the inexperience of the young North Beach player, T. Slntes, showed out as he and D. B. Reid were beaten in three sets by South Canterbury’s leading pair, J. Darling and B. Parris. However, Sintes and his young team-mate, S. Thorne, played exceptionally well in their singles matches, their performances auguring well for the team’s next match, against North Otago on June 27.
