EXPORTS OF SKINS

sim Business For Year

A company which was formed just over a year ago has since exported about $500,000 worth of sheep and deer skins.

“The value of exports exceeded expectations at the beginning of the company’s operations,” said Mr R. Clark, manager of the Timaru-based firm of Sheepskin Exports (N.Z.), Ltd, which acts as agents for skin buyers.

“The turnover of raw stock in dry sheepskins considerably exceeded expectations with one-third of a million skins exported, and the dry deer skin business was expanded to earn a considerable amount of overseas exchange.”

Mr Clark said that new overseas markets were being investigated. Last year the firm sent sheepskins to France, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom, and deer skins were sent to the United States, West Germany and the United Kingdom.
