R.T.A. Sympathy With A.S.R.S
The Addington Railway Tradesmen’s Association yesterday added its “full moral and financial support” to the Addington and Otahuhu branches of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, which are holding partial stoppages in defiance of the instructions of the A.S.R.S national council Mr A. Batchelor, the secretary of the association, said that the association was considering calling one of its own key men out in support of similar action yesterday by the Addington A.S.R.S. “At yesterday’s meeting the
Government was slated for delaying tactics during negotiations, and the Cabinet severely criticised for its failure to bring down a decision on exgratia payments shown in the 1970 ruling rate survey,” said Mr Batchelor. “The continued failure to make this payment could quite easily extend the Otahuhu and Addington stoppages throughout the country. “Acknowledging the fact that our national executive is faced with many obstacles,
members expressed confidence in them to negotiate a full and just wage settlement,” said Mr Batchelor.
