Workers Win j 'Wage Increase (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 9. Auckland Regional Authority workers have won a significant wage increase which will benefit about 1200 em ployees. i In a meeting with the authority today a combined group representing 14 unions accepted an offer of interim advance payments of 7c an hour to wage-earners on the State-rate basis. A minimum increase for) tradesmen, to advance their basic rate to 51.24 an hour, was also agreed on at the meeting. The convener of the meeting (Mr H. F. Callagher, secretary of the Auckland and Suburban Local Bodies i Union) said the way had now been cleared for negotiations with bodies such as the Auckland City Council and the i (Auckland Harbour Board. |
