Look At Harbour

(From Our Own Reporter) WESTPORT, June 10. Officials of the Sumitomo Mining Company, of Japan, were in Westport today to look at port facilities. Accompanied by representatives of Carpentaria Exploration, Ltd, the Japanese had talks with the harbourmaster (Captain L. H. Davies), and are expected to meet the manager

of the Guardian Cement Works (Mr G. Wilson). The company is in New Zealand to investigate the possibility of using one of its metal extractive processes on ilmenite deposits held by Carpentaria. It is not known whether the company is interested in Buller coal or timber, but it is believed that the visit is mainly in connection with deep water facilities for shipping.
