School Music Contest

The Milbrook Trio—Stella Monk (clarinet), Donald Maurice (viola) and Philip Driver (piano)—was placed first in the Christchurch district contest of the school chamber music contest conducted by the Christchurch Chamber Music Society in Christchurch recently.

Sixteen groups from 14 secondary schools took part in the contest which is sponsored annually by the Bank of New South Wales. After regional contests have been judged throughout New Zealand, about 10 of the best groups will be invited to take part in the finals in Wellington in August. The judge for all groups is Mr G. Adams, of the University of Auckland.
