He was elec- . trocuted in his garden while , trimming a hedge. Johnson «ion the British . light weight title from Tommy > McGovern in 1952 and lost it > to Joe Lucy in 1956.
He took the Empire title i from the Australian, Frank Flannery, in January, 1953, and forfeited it in June when he failed to make the weight before a challenge bout with Lucy
