MARKET CONTINUES ADVANCE OVER WIDE FRONT

The New Zealand sharemarket continued to be firm yesterday, when rises outnumbered falls by almost four to one. Trading was active.

Although the rises were generally small, with few moves standing out, the advance was over a wide front, with niany leaders in the vanguard. Skellerup rose 20c, and Tappenden also gained 20c, in i first trading' after the announcement of the bonus issue.

The overseas list again had some sharp gains.

8.H.P., 50c higher at 1750 c, Mt Isa, up 60c to 1760 c, and Hamersley, with a rise of 55c to 975 c, were the best. Among the few falls Crothall stood out: the shares took off 15c at 325 c.
