FORESTRY CUTS
(N.Z. Press Association)
ROTORUA, June 3.
National forestry planting targets for 1970-71 have been cut by 6000 acres from the targets recommended by the National Development Conference. The Director of Forests (Mr A. L. Poole) said this today when commenting on a statement made by the Minister | of Forests (Mr Maclntyre) on 'reduced forest plantings for the coming year. ! “No doubt you are aware I that the Government has cut all departmental expenditure, and we have to take these reductions along with the rest,” Mr Poole said. The reduced expenditure would mean that the Forestry Service would also have to cut its programme in roading, housing, machinery and other areas.
