A new English record price for a water-colour at auction is expected to be set on June 17 when a water-colour by Turner, once in the collection of John Ruskin, the nineteenth-century art critic, is to be included in a sale of pictures at Sotheby’s The present auction record for an English watercolour is £ll,OOO paid St Sotheby’s for the Rowlandson of Vauxhall Gardens in 1967.
