Valuable New Race For 2-Year-Olds

A two-year-old race worth 1 $5OOO will be introduced to tbe Canterbury Jockey Club’s Summer meeting next year. To be run over six furlongs, ‘ the race will have a minimum of 84) with penalties j based on stake earnings, ; and will be ran on the second day of the meeting. The winner of the race will receive $3230 and a free service to the Inglewood Stud iire, Tiber. The free service has been presented by Mr R. E. Adair. The second-place-getter will q receive $lOOO and a free service to the Morwenstow Stud stallion Orbiter (given by Mr D. B. C. > AUlnl. The third and fourth-place-getters will receive $3OO and $250 respectively.

Winners of more than $5OOO in stakes will carry a 141 b penalty; $4OOO 121 b; $3OOO 51b; and $2OOO 3lb. Maidens will be allowed 51b and fillie* 31b. Enrolments for the race will close on July 23 at a cost of $5. Registration of horses enrolled will close on September 24 at a cost of $5. Re-nominations will close on the general entry day for the February meeting for horses enrolled and registered, also al a cost of $5. The final acceptance fee for horses enrolled and registered will be $lO. Nominations for horses which were not originally enrolled and registered will be $5O, and the final acceptance fee will be $l3O.
