Mr Cottrell To Go To Edinburgh

Mr A t. Cottrell, the president of Commonwealth Games Promotion (New Zealand), will now be assisting the six-man party at Edinburgh in their efforts to bring the 1974 Games to Christchurch. Mr Cottrell withdrew from the delegation last month for personal reasons but at last evening’s meeting of the society Mr Cottrell indicated that he was now available to travel. “It is my pleasure to welcome you in rejoining the delegation and in helping to promote the cause of the Games for Christchurch,” said the vice-chairman (Mr R. S. Scott). He said that Mr Cottrell would be arriving in Edinburgh before the other members of the delegation. The total number of administrators promoting Christchurch’s case in Edinburgh will now be 10. Mr Cottrell’s place was filled by Mr E. H. Williams, a member of the executive, while auxiliary administrators are Mr B. R. Walker, another executive member, and the respective chairmen of the membership and accommodation committees, Messrs R. C. Webb and A. McKenzie. The Mayor (Mr Guthrey) will also be in Edinburgh, for four days during the Games.
