HARRIER TROPHY

(N.Z. Press Association) NAPIER. Hawke's Bay won the coveted St Andrew’s Trophy for the first time in the competition’s 27year history when harriers from Dunedin to Auckland competed at Taradaie yesterday.

A Hawke's Bay women's team also won the two mile race to hold off a close challenge from Dunedin.

The gruelling trophy race was run over a 6i mile course in hilly country. The first runner home was G. Martin. Wellington, who has been individual winner twice before. He ran the course in 37min 44sec.
