Quick action by the staff of the Christchurch-Lyttel-ton Road Tunnel Authority recently ensured that a Lyttelton mother-to-be got to a Christchurch nursing home in time, the traffic superintendent (Mr W. A. Wheldale) reported to the authority yesterday. “A healthy future patron of the authority arrived in this world very shortly after a fast tunnel transit by the father,” Mr Wheldale said. “A Ministry of Transport patrol car took over the fast escort from an authority officer during the final approach to the hospital.”
