KAPUNI GAS

Regular Supply Now In Use (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 26. Regular piped supplies of natural gas from Kapuni are now being used in New Plymouth. And by the end of this week Kapuni gas will be in use in two other cities— Palmerston North and Wanganui.

In New Plymouth about 50 gas consumers, mainly industrial, have had their appliances converted to natural gas in the past two days. The break in the pipeline near Wanganui, believed caused when three cleaning devices jammed in a section of the pipe, has been repaired. Industry officials believe the jamming was a one-in-a-million chance. They see no possibility of a similar mishap once the initial cleaning work has been completed.
