DEATH IN ITALY
New Zealand Actress Bernadette Kell, the New Zealand-born actress who became a star of Italian television and films, has died. She was aged 28. Her mother, Mrs W. J. Kell, of Lincoln Street, Ponsonby, learned last week that her daughter died of cancer in a Rome hospital on May 10, says a Press Association report.
When Miss Kell was 17 she went to Sydney, where she worked as a model and studied drama. She then went to Italy, where she studied at the university for foreigners at Perugia. Films in which she appeared include “Requiem for Charlie,” “The Wicked Witch,” “The Naughty Girl,” and “How I Learned to Love Women.”
Mrs Kell said her daughter married a young Italian actor about three years ago.
