IMPORTED CARS
The scheme under which built-up new cars may be imported without any repatriation of overseas funds being required in addition to the no-remittance deposit is scheduled to end on February 25 next year, the Customs Department in Christchurch confirmed this week.
i The suspension of the re- • patriation requirement on i built-up cars was announced , by the Minister of Customs s (Mr Adams-Schneider) on - February 20, and was for one year, the department said. The announcement last February coincided with the announcement of increased imports of both completely knocked-down and overseasassembled cars in the 1970-71 import licensing period. , Mr Adams-Schneider said ■ at that time that including a considerable proportion of built-up cars in the over-all increase would minimise the impact of assembling more cars in the existing tight labour situation.
