NEW CHURCH CENTRE

Town-Planning

Decisions

Approval for the trustees of the Upper Riccarton Methodist Church to construct a church centre, on the site of the present Methodist church at the corner of Yaldhurst Road and Brake Street, was given by the Waimairi County Council at its meeting on Thursday evening, when decisions on town-planning hearings were reached. When the church application was heard, it was said that St Peter’s Anglican Church, opposite, was cooperating in every way, and was looking ahead to the day when the new centre could be jointly used.

Mr E. A. Pope was given permission to build six motels at 288 Blenheim Road.

The Avonhead Play Centre was given permission to use St Christopher's Anglican Church Sunday School as a play centre. Mr I. W. Guy was permitted to have a stall for the sale of produce grown on his own property at 631 Marshland Road.

Mr V. C. Clarke was granted a conditional-use permit to allow a bank, and rooms for a doctor and a dentist, to be built at 213 Waimairi Road.
