(N.Z. Press Association) ROTORUA. One point separates the leading six players in thej North Island chess champion-j ship, which will end today. K. W. Lynn (Nelson), who has led from the start, has 5) points, half a p6int ahead of P. W. Stuart (North Shore) and P. Garbett (Auckland). R, Waayman (Kawerau), J. H. Patchett (Waitemata), and L. Whitehouse (Hamiltqn), have 4) points, and J. R. Jackson (Christchurch) 4. Lynn suffered his first defeat yesterday, in the seventh round, when he was beaten by Garbett, a young university student. Earlier, Lynn had defeated Patchett. Jackson lost to Garbett and beat N. Whaley (North Shore).
