Sales Outside Board Sought
fFrom Our Own Reporter; WELLINGTON, May 21. A request by 13 South Canterbury apple and pear growers that they be given permission to sell outside the Apple and Pear Marketing Board is contained in a petition presented to Parliament this week by Mr R. L. G. Talbot (Nat., South Canterbury). The petition was , passed to the Petitions Committee for examination. The petition, signed by Mr I 1 G. I. Illingworth and 12 others, says that prices paid by the Apple and Pear Board are so low that the operations of the orchards concerned; | are likely to be inhibited. .The petitioners say that the 1 I committee which investigated; the position in 1067 recom-h mended that growers ip certain areas should be permit-; ted, under licences granted by 1I the board, to market their I fruit outside the board '
