PROTEST AT CONSULATE
Man Fined For Trespassing (N Z. Press Association? AUCKLAND, May 21. No-one can break the law, whether he was doing it for peaceful protest or not, Mr C. E. H. Pledger, S.M., said in the Auckland Magistrate's Court today. He was sentencing Timothy Richard Shadbolt, aged 23, company manager, who had been convicted of trespassing in the American Consulate on May 14. Shadbolt was released on probation for one year and fined $l2O. Conditions of his probation are that he must live and work where directed by the probation officer. The Magistrate told Shadbolt that because he had six previous convictions, including three for trespassing, a term of imprisonment had been seriously considered.
Parts For Australia.—A Thames manufacturing company. Campbell Tube Products, Ltd, has won a contract to supply air cleaners and exhaust equipment for 2500 Renault cars a year in Australia. The general manager of the company (Mr J. Louden) said yesterday that more contracts might be in the offing.—(P.A.)
