New Name For Old Road

■ln spite of an objection from the Post Office, the Waimairi County Council, at its meeting last evening, decided to proceed with Waimakariri Road as the name of that part of Johns Road cut off by road deviation, and running between Sawyers Arms Road to the new road at the Harewood Church. The Post Office claimed that there was a Waimakariri Road on No. 1 rural mail delivery at Yaldhurst. and as Johns Road was originally known as Waimakariri Road, further confusion could result.

Cr 1. Calvert said that residents wanted the name Waimakariri Road. The council also agreed with residents that the name of the new road should be Whitchurch Place.
