The “Pal” system was recommended by the New Zealand Broadcasting Authority, which has inquired into the three available types, heard evidence, and considered relative merits. The “Pal” system Is already being used in Britain and most European countries, with the
exception of France and Russia. Its success in Switzerland and Sweden, with their problems similar to New Zealand’s, helped in making the choice.
