BRITISH CRICKET CONTROVERSY.—City of London Polytechnic students staging a mock cricket match outside the Royal Exchange in London to draw attention to apartheid in sport. The British Government is faced with demands from back-benchers to persuade the Cricket Council to withdraw its invitation to the South African cricketers. But the Government has stood firm on the principle that the governing body Of a sport should be allowed to manage its own affairs. The Sports Council in Britain has also asked the Cricket Council to withdraw its invitation.
