Teaching in the school is .organised in the disciplines of Chemistry, physics and Earth Sciences. There are separate iSchool of Mathematical Sciences and of Biological Sciences. There are two other professors of Chemistry in the school; and the present vacancy arises as a result of the appointment of Professor J. R. Anderson as Chief of the C.5.1.R.0. Division of Tribophysics. Current research interests in chemistry are in organic chemistry, solid state chemistry, adsorption and catalysis on metal surfaces, ceramics, and X-ray crystallography of non-stoichio-metic inorganic compounds and of organic compounds of biological interest. A degree or diploma in geology is desirable. Applicants should have experience in the identification of geological material. VICTORIA UNIVERSITY OF WELLINGTON CAREERS ADVISER THE UNIVERSITY COUNCIL intends to appoint a Secretary to the Careers Advisory Board who will act as head of the university’s careers advisory service. The Board’s main functions are to provide advice and information on careers to graduates and undergraduates, and to foster a climate in the community favourable to the employment of graduates. Applications are invited from graduates in any field, but especially from those with some experience in personnel management. The salary offered is that of a lecturer which at present ranges from S3lOO to $4BOO, but a triennial review announcement is expected shortly, to take effect from April 1, 1970.
