Schoolgirl’s Hockey

At the end of the second day’s play In the national primary schoolgirls' hockey tournament at Malvern yesterday. Whangarel and Malvern lead their respective sections. Results were:— Maniototo -2, Ashburton 0; Nelson 3. Canterbury 1; Manawatu 4. Bay of Plenty 0: Wbangarel 4, Wairarapa 1; Malvern 5. Taranaki 0; Eastern Southland 2. Bush 0: Maniototo 3, Manawatu 2; Nelson 3. Wairarapa 2: Malvern 2, Ashburton 0: Canterbury 1. Bush 9; Bav of Plenty 2, Taranaki 8. Eastern Southland 1, Whangarel The highlight of the tournament so far was yesterday's game between Malvern and Ashburton. Both teams display a high standard of hockey on fast grounds. The basic essentials of good open hoekey were executed with exceptional understanding for players of their age. There was no score at halftime. J. Verdellen and S. Eastmond scoring for Malvern late in the second half of the game. S. Lohrey. the Malvern goalkeeper. was in excellent form.
