AKAROA HOTEL
Information Necessary w (From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, May 12. The Minister of Tourism (Mr Walker) has advised the ( Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) that there is no point in receiving a deputation of Akaroa residents to discuss the hotel accommodation position unless new information and financial backing are available. Mr T. M. McGuigan (Lab., Lyttelton), who sent a telegram to Mr Holyoake asking him to receive a delegation, has been sent the following telegram by Mr Walker: “The Prime Minister has referred to me your telegram concerning your request for a deputation to discuss Akaroa’s hotel accommodation position. Unless you have [new information supported by 'positive recommendations and financial backing, there is no point in discussing the matter further at this time. "I have advised the Prime I Minister accordingly."
