The Government is considering altering regulations to prevent evasion of hire purchase provisions under the guise of leasing, the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr Shelton) said in Parliament yesterday. Replying to Mr B. P. Mac-; donnell (Lab., Dunedin Central), Mr Shelton said there was no proposal to take legislative action to prevent leasing of motor vehicles to those firms and Individuals who had a genuine need for such contracts.

A decision on the regulations would be taken after (he result of the appeal against a Supreme Court decision, Mr Shelton said.
