UNIVERSITY VACANCIES THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND TEACHING FELLOWSHIPS IN PHYSICS Applicants should have, or expect soon to obtain, a good Honours degree in Physics, and iif appointed will be required to enrol for a Ph.D. in one of the following research fields: Solid State and Chemical Phy sics; lonisation, Gas Laser and Plasma Physics; lonospheric and Radio Physics. Salary will be in the range $3375 x $225 $4275 per annum. Provision is made for fares and removal expenses. The successful applicant will be expected to take up duties as soon as possible after July 1, 1970, Arrangements can be made, however, to postpone appointment until February 1, 1971, if this is desired. Walker, Head of Department). The per son appointed should desirably be an ecologist of broad inter ests with particular competence in some aspect of field ecology which can be pursued in Aus tralia, the South-west Pacific or South-east Asia. Laboratory facilities are available and support for field work is liberal. Appointment will be to a Senior Fellowship ($A8730-$A10.274 per annum), ora Fellowship ($A64i)O- - per annum), and applicants should specify for which of these they wish to be considered. Fellows and Senior Fellows are appointed for an initial period of five years after which they are normally re-appointed until retiring age Superannuation scheme of the F.S.S.U. type is available and assistance is provided with joining expenses and housing Fellows are entitled to one year's study leave on full pay in every seven years’ service, with a maximum grant of 5A2160 towards expenses, and Senior Fellows to one year's study leave in every six years with a maximum gram of $A2600.
