Protest Committee Formed

A committee was formed in Christchurch on Friday by representatives of organisations that plan to hold demonstrations and other activities from May 1 to May 8, calling for the immediate withdrawal of New Zealand troops from Vietnam. The committee will organise its 'actions with those being held throughout Australia and New Zealand in support of the Anti-Vietnam War Mobilisation Committee of the United States.

About 30 persons were present at the meeting, representing the Canterbury University Students’ Association, Citizens’ Vietnam Action Committee, Socialist Action League, Progressive Youth Movement Lyttelton branch of the Seamen’s Union, Fabian Society, Joint Council on Vietnam, Society of Friends, Rangiora Labour Party and Radical Student Alliance.
