U.S. Gunfire Kills Allies

An American helicopter gunship killed 11 South Vietnamese soldiers and wounded 30 men when it fired on what an American spokesman described as a suspected enemy position shortly after midnight today. “It was subsequently reported that the aerial gun and rocket fire impacted in the vicinity of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam's 47 Ini fantry Regiment,” a spokes- . man said. He said it took about two - hours to evacuate the : wounded soldiers by helicopI ter to an American hospital.
