South African Tour Opposed
(N.Z. Press Assn.—■ Copyright) LONDON, April 6. A call to the 15 West Indians in English county cricket not to play against the South Africans this summer tour was made in London last night. It came from 70 people representing 20 West Indian groups who had met to set up the community’s first campaign against apartheid in sport—the West Indian Campaign Against Apartheid Cricket. Mr Jeff Crawford, the convener of the meeting, said later that it wanted South Africa banned from the Cricket Conference, and it planned to write to the West Indian Cricket Board of Control in Barbado.., asking foi a public warning to the M.C.C. that if the South Africans’ tour was not cancelled, future tours of the Caribbean by the England team might be affected.
Mr Crawford added that the next meeting of the organisation would be in two weeks time, when a draft booklet explaining to West Indians in Britain exactly what apartheid in South Africa meant, would be dis cussed.
