VINTAGE RALLY
i Old Cars In Canberra (N.Z Press Assn—Copyright) CANBERRA April 5. Almost 500 veteran and vintage cars, brasswork gleaming, chugged into Canberra today on the second stage of the Veteran and Vintage International Car Rally. Hundreds of children ran beside them and followed them t< the check-point. The 470 cars created a three-hour traffic jam. First to check in 200 miles southwest of Sydney, the starting point, was a 1911 Argyle. One of the rally organisers said that only seven cars had dropped out of the first stage of the rally, mainly because of tyre trouble. The eventual destination of the cars is Melbourne, almost 600 miles from the starting point.
