Boys’ Brigade Course

Forty-six officers of the Boys’ Brigade began their initial training on Monday evening in the first of four evening sessions to be conducted this year. Thirtythree of the officers attending will be promoted from warrant officer to lieutenant on the completion of the course. “The number attending is higher than we have had in recent years, and the percentage of women officers is much higher,” Mr D. Giblin, commanding officer of the course said last evening. “The willingness of officers to undertake training is very promising for the companies they come from and the movement in general. “We are very pleased to see more women coming into the movement as officers, as their work, particularly with the eight-year-old boys, is very imnortant."

The course is bping conducted by the Canterbury Battalion training officers. The guest Instructor is Mr J. K. Nicol, of St Andrew’s College. The adjutant is Mr D. L. Aitken.
