‘Mini-Fares’ For Buses

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 5. “Mini-fares for maxirides” start on Auckland Regional Authority buses from tomorrow morning. Bus fares for trips to and from the city, on four days a week between 9.15 a.m. and 3 p.m., will be a maximum of 5c each way. The reduction will apply from Monday to Thursday inclusive (excluding holidays) and will run on a trial basis until the end of the month. The new charges are being made in an effort by the A.R.A. to increase the use of buses outside peak hours. The lower fares are expected to cost the A.R.A. about $4400 a week if there Is no increase in passengers.
