Decrease In Export Butter Production
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 6. Some 46,700 tons of butter and 14,700 tons of cheese graded for export were in store in New Zealand on February 28, according to figures issued by the Department of Agriculture today.
During February only 15,118 tons of butter was graded for export, 6172 tons less than in February, 1969, a fall of 28.99 per cent. In the seven months ended February 28 some 171,597 tons of butter was graded for export, a fall of 4325 tons, or 2.458 per cent, on the amount graded in the corresponding seven months of last season. Cheese graded for export during February was 9172 tons, compared with 8448 tons in February, 1969. Cheese graded in the seven months ended February
28, 73,733 tons, was 5416 tons, or 7.928 per cent, more than for the corresponding seven months of last season.
In terms of butterfat equivalent, there is a fall of 0.91 per cent in butterfat graded for export over the seven months.
